Getting to and from Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO)
The address of Fiumicino Airport is via dell’Aeroporto di Fiumicino 320, P.O Box 68, 00050, Fiumicino, Italy. The airport is situated approximately 32 km (20 miles) to the southwest of central Rome, next to the coastline. The journey to the airport takes around 30 – 45 minutes, depending on the type of transport used.
The city of Fiumicino is to the east of the airport, and Dragona and Ostia Antica are to the west. To the south of the airport, lies the Lido di Ostia, which is near to Casal Palocco and Infernetto. Lido di Ostia is just off the Via de Mare. Close to the main A90 ring road, is Piana del Sole. The ring road is known as Circonvallazione Meridionale.
The airport complex itself has a few roads, which include the Via De Bernardi, the Via Alessandro Guidoni, the Via Francesco Baracca and the Via dell’Aeroporto di Fiumicino.
Directions from central Rome
- Follow Rome’s circular expressway of Grande Raccordo Anulare.
- Take the Rome-Fiumicino highway. The highway leads directly to Fiumicino Airport.
- The different directions for each terminal are signposted from the airport approach road.
Travellers from Civitavecchia can take the highway for Rome. After the exit toll gate, there are directions at the crossroads leading to the airport.
Passengers can travel by their own car or by their rented car to the airport. The rented car should be returned to the correct location for its car hire company. Private vehicles can park at any of the parking facility areas at the airport, which include garage parking buildings, a few short-term parking spaces at the terminals or the long-term parking lots.
Public transport from Rome includes the ATAC bus services and trains, such as the Leonardo Express and the FM1 Metropolitan Trains. There are also many taxi companies and private shuttle buses that offer transport to the airport.
Fiumicino Airport has one hotel that is connected to the terminals and train station by a skyway. This is the Hilton Airport Hotel. Other hotels nearby the airport are the Holiday Inn Rome Parco Dei Medici and the Sheraton Roma.
There are adequate business and conference facilities at the airport. The Atahotel Executive Centre is located on the third level of Terminal A, near to the domestic gate A7. Services include meeting rooms, video conferencing facilities, translation services and secretarial support. The Atahotel Executive Centre is open from 06:00 to 22:00. There are also two VIP lounges, Mosaici in Terminal B and Le Anfore in Terminal C. They have computers with internet access available for use by business travellers.
The airport is filled with many shops and restaurants for passengers to enjoy. Other amenities include post offices, banks, money exchange offices, ATMs, pharmacies and a First Aid Centre. The airport has facilities for disabled passengers and nursery facilities to assist passengers travelling with babies and young children (bottle warmers, beds and changing tables).
