Avis Car Rental at Forli Airport
Forli Airport is a small airport in Italy with passenger numbers which are currently recorded at around 350,000. Traffic in 2008 however, was noted as over 700,000. It is an international airport otherwise know as the Luigi Ridolfi Airport, after an Italian aviator, or in the Italian language as the Aeroporto di Forli – ‘L. Ridolfi’. The airport is also allocated the official code of FRL. Many arriving passengers rent a car for transport in the Emilia-Romagna region, and from Forli Airport, and the companies available include Avis Forli Airport. Avis is a respected car hire company present at thousands of locations around the world, and offer vehicles which are suitable for all occasions.
Forli Airport, located approximately four kilometres from the city of Forli, and in the Po Valley area of northern Italy, has one terminal building fully equipped to welcome it’s arriving passengers and to ‘see off’ it’s departing passengers. The terminal is over 6,000 square metres in size, with the arrival area on the ground floor and the departures area on the first floor. There are two boarding areas, eight gates, one check-in area and three baggage reclaim conveyor belts. Passengers can arrive at Forli Airport on flights offered by Wizz Air or Belle Air. The Forli Airport car hire companies are conveniently located in the arrivals area, and their vehicles are parked in a nearby airport car park. Avis is one of the companies in the arrival area, and their services are available at the following hours: Monday to Tuesday – 08:00 to 13:30 and 17:00 to 21:00, Wednesday – 08:00 to 13:30 and 17:00 to 22:00 and Thursday to Saturday from 08:00 to 13:30 and from 17:00 to 21:00.
Although Forli is not a very large airport, cars from Avis should be hired in advance, as the right car for your business or holiday trip may not be available upon your arrival at the airport. Advanced reservations are most easily achieved online, from one of the many websites which support Avis car rental reservations. Whilst arranging your vehicle, remember to include any optional items of equipment necessary, such as a child seat or satellite navigation system, and add insurance options to your rental quote if they are not included. A child seat will be required for all children four years of age or under, as in Italy, all passengers of a vehicle should wear seatbelts. A navigation system is ideal for anyone who would like to travel more easily to a variety of destinations, and the insurances available from Avis include mandatory theft protection and optional collision damage waiver. If you don’t have your own insurance, purchase these locally from Avis to reduce or even remove the insurance excess charges.
Avis hand controls for disabled drivers should also be reserved in advance, as the device is only available on certain types of automatic vehicles, and will need to be fitted prior to your arrival at Forli Airport. Hand controls are ideally used by persons with a lower limb disability, and may include a steering wheel knob. Select Avis one way hire options for your vehicle if you won’t be returning to Forli Airport. One way hires are when you choose a different return location to the one from where you will be collecting the vehicle. They may be more expensive than an ordinary rental, but are convenient for some travel itineraries. They may also require an advanced reservation.
Avis Italy, and Avis at Forli Airport, have rental conditions similar to most other major car hire companies. The primary renter will need to be 21 years of age or older, and will need to show a valid drivers license upon collection of the vehicle. The license must have been held for a minimum period of one year prior to the rental date. A young driver fee will apply to customers between the ages of 21 and 25, and the charges are 15.00 Euro per day of car hire, up until a maximum of 225.00 Euro. Younger renters may also not hire the following vehicle categories from Avis – H (Fullsize), I (Intermediate), J (Economy), L (Premium) and N (Convertible). The Forli Airport car rental companies will also require a major credit card for payment of the rental. The cards generally accepted are American Express, Diners Club, Eurocard, Mastercard and Visa. Avis Charge Cards are also available for certain renters.
In Italy, smaller vehicle models hired may be similar to the Fiat Panda 1.2 Dynamic, New Corsa 1.2 16V Enjoy, Fiat Grande Punto 1.3 and the Nissan Micra 1.2. They have three or five doors, a manual transmission, space for an item or two of luggage and usually offer air conditioning. They can also seat four or five passengers, but families may find them to be a bit cramped. A fine balance between space and rental prices should be considered. A car which is too small may cause the trip to be unpleasant, but a larger vehicle will be more expensive. Cars seating five more comfortably include the Mercedes Classe A180, Alfa Romeo 159 1.9, BMW Series 320D Eletta, Ford Focus 1.6 and the Volkswagen Passat 1.9 Wagon. The wagon vehicles mentioned have room for five or more luggage items, and are great for all driving scenarios.
Avis has a very good selection of larger minivans and vans, for customers who are perhaps travelling in groups. For seven, there are the Ford Galaxy 2.0 and the Chrysler Grand Voyager 2.8. Ideal for nine passengers is the Nuovo Ducato Panorama 2.3, with plenty of luggage space as well. Four-wheel drives and convertibles may also be possible to hire from Avis, Forli Airport, and customers who are fond of Avis’ services can consider becoming an Avis Preferred member for additional benefits.
