Buses to and from Forli Airport (FRL)
Forli Airport is located approximately four kilometres from the town of Forli, and a few kilometres from the town of Cesena. The airport is also only 70km from Bologna, one of the larger cities in Italy and approximately 45km from Rimini, along the eastern coast. The airport can be known as the Luigi Ridolfi, and has the official airport code of FRL. Although quite small, with only around 350,000 passengers per annum, it offers adequate facilities and a few transport options. Forli buses are available to a few locations, and there is a taxi rank. In some cases, a bus is more convenient and cheaper than other forms of transport.
The airport consists of one terminal building of approximately 6,000 square metres in size. There is one runway on the airport grounds that handles all in-coming and out-going flights by the airline companies of Wizz Air and Belle Air. The terminal is adequate in size for the number of passengers which pass through it on a yearly basis, and it’s facilities include a few shops and restaurants, internet connections, a ticket office, a lost and found desk for luggage, a tourist information desk, general information counters and services for disabled passengers. The arrival hall of Forli Airport is found on the ground floor, and from this area, various forms of ground transport are available, including buses and taxis. Since that the airport is only a small establishment, bus services are not extensive, but there are a few to some nearby locations. Depending on how many passengers need transport and the destination, the airport buses could be a cheaper option than a taxi for onward travel.
Buses to Forli
By bus is a very good way to travel to the Forli Train Station, or the Forli Railway Station, located in the centre of Forli. The journey will take only fifteen minutes, and the bus can accommodate the luggage carried by airport passengers. Bus tickets are available from the driver of the bus for 3.50 Euro. This is a single ticket for a one-way trip. Round-trip tickets usually available for ninety days may also be available. It is best to have the exact change when purchasing tickets from the bus driver. The buses leave from outside the Forli Airport arrival area and are available at the following times: Monday – 13:30 and 20:25, Tuesday – 17:35 and 20:45, Wednesday – 13:25, 18:30, 20:25 and 22:05, Thursday – 17:35 and 19:20, Friday – 13:30 and 20:25, Saturday – 17:35 and 20:45 and on Sundays at 13:25, 17:55, 18:30, 19:20 and 22:05.
Passengers are advised to keep their tickets for the duration of the bus journey, as sometimes checks are carried out to see if all passengers aboard have a legitimate ticket. Fines can be issued if a passenger is caught without a ticket, or with a ticket that is not valid. In most buses of Italy, passengers should have their ticket stamped in a machine available on the bus at the start of each journey. Forli Airport buses are available in the alternative direction as well, from the Forli Railway Station to the airport. The following times are applicable in this direction: Monday – 12:55 and 19:50, Tuesday – 17:05 and 20:10, Wednesday – 12:40, 17:50, 19:50 and 21:40, Thursday – 17:05, 18:50, Friday – 12:55 and 19:50, Saturday – 17:05 and 21:10 and on Sundays at 12:40, 17:20, 18:10, 18:50 and at 21:40.
In general, the airport buses travel at times that correspond to the arrival or departure flights of the airport, however, passengers are advised to check the latest timetables in advance of their journey, as times may change if the flight schedules of the airline companies change.
