Forli Airport Parking
Forli Airport is found in northern Italy, and is a small airport mainly served by two airline companies, namely, Wizz Air and Belle Air. In 2011, the airport handled only 346,000 passengers, but in previous years, it’s passenger traffic has been over 700,000. It has the official airport code of FRL, and many refer to it as the Luigi Ridolfi Airport, in honour of an Italian aviator. Forli Airport parking is provided for passengers arriving in their own vehicles, and the parking lots are conveniently located nearby to the terminal building. They are paid-parking areas, as very few airports nowadays offer parking for free.
Forli Airport is located approximately four kilometres from the city centre of Forli, and also just a few kilometres from the town of Cesena. Forli is a commune of the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy, and is the capital city of the province of Forli-Cesena. The airport is only 70km from the larger city of Bologna, and the main access roads from the north-west are the Via Emilia and the A14. Either of these two roads can be used to access the airport from Bologna, Imola or Faenza, and from coastal areas, such as Ancona, Falconara Marittima, Senigalia, Fano, Pesaro, Cattolica, Riccione and Rimini. From the airport, Ancona is 122km and Rimini is 45km. Cities a little further from the airport include Florence (177km), Parma (157km), Perugia (127km), Pisa (265km), Milan (339km) and Rome (378km). The airport road is known as the Via Seganti. Although Forli Airport parking is generally easy to find and always available, motorists should leave enough time to find a suitable space and to check-in for their flight. All major roads and motorways in Italy can become congested at times as well.
Forli Airport Parking
The airport parking lots available have approximately 810 spaces in uncovered areas. They are in front of the terminal building, and about 100 metres from the arrival and departure areas. The parking lots are open twenty-four hours a day, and are convenient for short-term and long-term parking stays, as there are no separate areas for different lengths of stays. The total surface area of the airport parking lot is approximately 19,000 square meters. Although at certain airports parking spaces can be reserved, no reservations are necessary at Forli Airport, as there are always plenty of spaces available. Since that the spaces for private vehicles are located so nearby to the terminal building, there is no need for shuttle bus transport.
The rates for the Parking areas 1 and 2 at Forli Airport are 1.50 Euro per hour for up to six hours and for up to twenty-four hours of parking, charges will be 10.00 Euro. Each day thereafter, or part thereof, will cost an additional 10.00 Euro. There is also an area available nearby the terminal where vehicles can park for a maximum of two hours, at 1.50 Euro per hour.
Services at the Forli Airport parking lots include surveillance by video cameras, parking spaces for caravans and vans in Parking 2 and special parking spaces for disabled passengers/drivers. The spaces for persons with reduced mobility are provided as nearby to the terminal entrance as possible, with the easiest access route for passengers in wheelchairs. Special parking rates could also be available for disabled drivers. These spaces should only be used by persons who are authorised to park in such areas. After arrival at the airport, passengers can obtain assistance from the designated points outside or inside of the terminal building, or can make enquiries at the airport information desk. Assistance can be provided with the formalities of check-in and the registration of baggage, as well as through the security checks and to the aircraft. Equipment is available to help passengers in wheelchairs to board the aircraft. This device is known as an Ambulift.
When entering the parking areas, motorists will receive a ticket that should be kept until the parking area has successfully been exited. The ticket is used for parking payments, and for exiting at the barriers. There are payment machines that take cash or credit cards in the airport terminal. Once payment has been made, a few minutes are allowed for the motorist to reach his/her vehicle and leave the parking area.
The majority of smaller Italian airports allow drivers to drop off departing passengers at the terminal entrance, or to collect passengers who are already waiting at curb-side. This ‘drop-off zone’ should only be used for a few minutes at most, and the driver should stay behind the wheel of the vehicle. Cars should, under no circumstance, be left unattended in this area. Vehicles are immediately towed for security reasons if found empty. It is recommended to bring along a third person if the passenger will require help with luggage items or with exiting the vehicle, as the driver cannot provide assistance.
