Brescia Airport Arrivals (VBS)
Brescia Airport is part of an important airport system in Italy, together with Verona Villafranca Airport. It is located in northern Italy’s Lombardy region, just 20 km from the city of Brescia, and in the town of Montichiari. For this reason, the airport is commonly referred to as Montichiari. Another name for the airport is Gabriele d’Annunzio Airport, after a poet and nationalist who lived in this area. Passengers arriving will find that the terminal building is modern, and well equipped with a variety of facilities.
Many people use Brescia as a cheaper alternative to Verona International Airport, and continue their journey by train or bus. The low-cost airline company of Ryanair offers the majority of flights to the airport. A popular flight by Ryanair is from London-Stansted, and this flight is approximately two hours in duration. The buses in operation coincide their time schedules with the arrival and departure flights, and will therefore wait for you even if your flight is delayed. The bus stops are easy to locate, just outside the arrivals area, and there is a bus for transport to the main bus station in Brescia, and to the Porta Nuova Bus Station in Verona. Located right at these bus stations is the railways station as well, both with very good connections to various destinations.
The journey by bus to Brescia takes around 25 minutes, and to Verona about an hour. Bus tickets are available on the bus or from the ticket office in the arrivals hall. Keep in mind that you may need to queue at the airport for tickets, but the buses do wait for all passengers. A bus is also available over the weekend for transport to Gardaland, the amusement park nearby Lake Garda. This bus company may also offer transport to Garda Lake itself. Lake Garda and Lake Iseo are popular destinations from Brescia. There is no train station on site. A taxi rank is also available outside the arrivals area, with taxis ready to take you to any destination. Taxis are however much more expensive than the bus services.
Hiring a rented car at Brescia Airport is another popular solution for transport. It is an ideal choice if you will be travelling to cities nearby Brescia, such as Verona, Bergamo, Cremona, Mantova, Vicenza, Parma, or even Milan, which is about 120 km from the airport. Verona is located around 60 km from Brescia, and is an easy drive on the major motorways that lead away from the airport. Two of these prominent roads are the A4 and the A21.
There is one terminal building which is modern and well equipped to handle the approximate 200,000 passengers who make use of the airport each year. It is easy to navigate, with one side for departures and the other side for arrivals. There is a bank and ATM available, a few bars and restaurants, a couple of shopping outlets on both the airside and landside of the building, and a VIP Lounge that offers basic business services. There is also a Lost and Found office at the airport, which handles the unfortunate cases of missing or damaged luggage. Should your baggage have been misplaced, report it immediately to this office, and show the personnel the baggage receipt that was attached to your ticket. With this information the operator can initiate proceedings for the retrieval of your luggage. Some airline companies are part of the World Tracer baggage tracing system, which allows you to track all information regarding your lost baggage online, from their website. In more serious cases, passengers may be provided with a kit containing essential items from their airline company to assist them during the wait for their baggage.
Damaged baggage should also be reported to the Lost and Found offices at Brescia Airport. Compensation may be offered provided that it is requested with seven days of the baggage arrival for damage to a registered bag, and within 21 days for delayed receipt of baggage.
The airport is fully equipped for the needs of disabled passengers and passengers with reduced mobility. The services offered at the airport include disabled toilets, dedicated parking spaces nearby the terminal for disabled drivers and lifts to assist with boarding or disembarkation from the aircraft. However, this service does depend on your airline company. If further assistance is needed when you arrive at Brescia, it can be arranged with your airline company at least 48 hours in advance of your departure flight. Staff will then be waiting for your arrival, and will assist you through the processes of customs and baggage reclaim.
The airport has an information point for any further enquiries.
