National Car Rental at Verona Airport

Verona Airport consists of two separate terminal buildings. One terminal is dedicated for international and domestic arrivals, while the other is for departures. In the Arrivals Hall, passengers will find the car rental counters of National, as well as many other companies, such as Hertz, Alamo, Budget, Sixt and Maggiore. National offers a wide range of quality vehicles, as well as excellent customer service and car hire rates.

All the vehicles rented by National are divided into different vehicle categories. When renting a vehicle, customers will select one of these categories rather than a specific make or model of vehicle. On National’s website, at www.nationalcar.com, all the categories are displayed with a picture of an example vehicle for that category. The seating and luggage capacities are indicated, but are not guaranteed. They should only be used as a general guide.

At National, Verona Airport, there are eleven car categories from which to choose your ideal rental car. They range from smaller, fuel efficient cars in the Economy and Compact categories, to larger and fancier vehicles in the Minivan and Premium categories. Examples of cars in the Economy category include the Fiat Panda Dynamic 1.2 and the Ford Fiesta Titanium 1.2. These vehicles are capable of seating up to two adults and two children, and have space for one large item of luggage and one smaller item of luggage. In the Compact category, the Alfa 147 JTD M-Jet Progression 1.6 is an example vehicle, and then there is also the Compact Wagon category, featuring vehicles such as the Fiat Stilo SW Active 1.9 JTD 120cv.

Families or travelers needing slightly larger vehicles could rent from the Intermediate, Intermediate Wagon, Full Size or Full Size Wagon categories. These vehicles can generally accommodate up to five adults, two large luggage items and two smaller luggage items, although vehicles in the Full Size Wagon category, such as the Mercedes C220 CDI Elegance SW 2.2, have room for up to four items of large luggage as well. Intermediate vehicles include the VW Nuova Passat Comfortline 1.9, and those in the Intermediate Wagon category, the Fiat Croma Dynamic MJT 1.9.

Luxury vehicles such as the Mercedes E280 CDI Avangarde 2.8 can be found in the Premium category, while larger sized vehicles are available in the Minivan and Van categories, for example, the Fiat Ulyesses Dynamic 2.0, seating up to seven adults, and the Fiat Ducato Panorama 2.8, seating up to nine adults.

National Car was founded in 1947, and their current headquarters are located in St. Louis. They are an internationally recognized brand, and aim to meet the daily car hire needs of frequent airport business travelers. National was the first car hire company to introduce a comprehensive frequent-renter program, in 1987, and the program is named Emerald Club. Emerald Club members save time and money when renting from National, and enjoy more simplified car rental procedures, such as bypassing the counter when collecting their vehicle, and receiving automatic e-receipts. National is known as the official car hire company for the PGA TOUR and Champion’s Tour.

National offers customers the choice of one-way rentals. This is when you can collect the vehicle from, for example, their Verona Airport location, but return it to another National agency. They also offer longer term rentals, from three to six months.

The primary renter at National must have a valid driving license and meet the minimum or maximum age requirements. Renters must be at least 21 years of age, and it is best to make enquiries before traveling as to whether or not an International Driving Permit will be required. Younger drivers between the ages of 21 and 24 are sometimes required to pay a higher rental rate, and also may not be able to rent certain specialty or larger sized vehicles.

Rentals are usually paid for by a major credit card, and the signature on the card must match the name imprinted on the card. It must also be in the name of the primary renter. Charges are made to the card at the time the vehicle is rented, rather than at the time the vehicle is returned. Accepted credit cards include American Express, Diners Club, Eurocard, Mastercard and Visa.
